Unfortunately is the only way to visit Colca Canyon in one day from Arequipa city and the bus/van ride takes about 3 hours (Arequipa to Chivay one way) and 1 hour Chivay to Condor Cross (lookout, Colca Valley) so plenty of bus ride in 1 day. If you don’t want to travel a lot in a day then you could consider booking Colca Canyon 2 Day Tour (spending the night in Chivay) or Colca Canyon 2 Day Trek. Colca Canyon Group Day Tour Itinerary
3:00 am Our friendly driver comes at your hotel in Arequipa city for you. Pick-ups from downtown hotels are included, and then after we leave Arequipa for Chivay, located 3 hours on the way to Colca Canyon, we’ll stop there for breakfast.
8:20 am at this time, we’ll admire the impressive views of one of the deepest canyon in the world and see the majestic Andean Condor bird that may be spotted flying just over head (fingers crossed). Get up close and get amazing photos of these birds whose presence create a truly unique experience at the Canyon.
Arequipa to Chivay ride, la Calera Hot Spring water, overnight, next day Colca valley tour and Condor viewing and return to Arequipa.
On the way back to Arequipa, we’ll stop at Patapampa, an incredible viewpoint where you will see the Ampato, Sabancaya and Hualca Hualca volcanoes side by side. This is also the highest point that we will reach at 4900 meters above sea level in Pampa Cañahuas.
17:30pm we’ll arrive back to Arequipa and drop you off at your hotel or hostel door (downtown).
But if you’re planning to do Lake Titicaca Tours from Arequipa this is a great way to save distance and travel time to Puno (5 hours) directly from Chivay, in this case you don’t have to return first to Arequipa city (3 hours) then take a bus to Puno (6 hours).
