Kayaking the Lake Titicaca at sunset is a magical and amazing experience. Here you’ll be gliding across the clear waters of Uros area as we get closer to the reed islands by starting from the South side we’ll see how they change from blue to orange and purple. As you look up into the sky, you will see the sun slowly sinking behind the majestic peaks of Puno city. This is one unforgettable experience you will not want to miss.

Where you’ll kayak
This late afternoon on your kayak you’ll cover the beautiful foreshore of Southern Uros islands in Lake Titicaca National Reserve. It’s perfect for those who are fairly new to kayaking, as well as more experienced kayakers who enjoy and appreciate the contrast while the sun is slowly setting over Puno hill and the reed islands.
Current launch location is Chimu bay 15 min away from Puno city on the South high way to Bolivia, but you won’t need to make sure how you’re going to get to the local dock for the scheduled arrival time because private transfer is included.
You don’t need to be an experienced kayaker as our kayaks are really stable and you will be instructed and guided in a small group of paddlers (or only you).

Tour Overview
- 4:00 pm pick-up and transfer from your hotel to kayak dock.
- 4.15 pm arrival to the launch point, and meet your guide.
- 4:20 pm stir your kayak to Uros Islands.
- 5:20 pm arrival time to the set of floating islands.
- 5:45 pm step on Aruma Uro lodge or other similar.
- 6:10 pm departure from Uros to Steves Island side.
- 7:05 pm arrival to another different kayak pier.
- 7:15 pm drop off by your selected hotel.
What you’ll do
Kayak launch point
The tour departs from Chimu Bay (in the Southern Uros Islands), where you will be greeted by your Guide. He will assist in helping you get ready for the tour, including a safety briefing, life-jacket fitting and setting up your kayaks for paddling.
On each tour, our Kayak Guide is there to ensure you are safe and having a great time on Lake Titicaca the highest one in the world. He will also happily take your photo in front of Uros people’s reed homes and reed boats and email them to you after the tour.
2 hours paddling over Umayo Lagoon then get a guided walking tour of the Incan burial towers. Finally, have lunch at Hatuncolla.
The time advertised on the schedule (which changes slightly throughout the season, based on the sunset time), in winter or dry season is at 4pm the time you are transferred to arrive at the launch place.
You will then get ready and be out on the water during the day light, just in time for the sunset.
Paddle to Uros
Once you are out on the water, enjoying your late afternoon paddling towards Uros floating islands, after 1h20min we’ll arrive to North side and just when you think it can’t get any better we’ll stop at one of the almost 100 floating islands where you’ll have a fresh, hot coffee sitting inside a custom made coffee cup holder on the front of your kayak, so you can enjoy it as you watch the sunset over the water and Puno city.
Uros sunset
We’re finishing the day by watching one of Lake Titicaca amazing sunsets while you could also enjoy a complimentary dinner and drinks on one of the Uros floating lodges overlooking Puno Bay. These islands are locates in the Northern area such as Aruma Uro Lodge, Summa Paqarina Lodge, Khatati Lodge.
The return is not for the same initial way, we’re taking the short path to Puno bay (45 min). Here our driver takes you back to your hotel in Puno downtown.
