3 Day: Uros , Amantani Homestay & Taquile + Puno to Tiwanaku to La Paz Tour

First day you'll be introduced to the Uros life and reed island building process. Following that you navigate by slow regular motor boat to Amantani Island (community lodging).

Next day the boat leaves Amantani to Taquile Island, hiking, art textile explanation and lunch.

Return to Puno city by boat, upon arrival you're transferred to your hotel by our private vehicle.

The third day you will travel from Puno to Desaguadero. On the border your Bolivian guide and driver take you to Tiwanaku for lunch and guided excursion.

Finally, the private transport takes you to La Paz accompanied by your guide.

What you’ll do (Tour Description)

DAY 1: Puno / Uros / Amantani Homestay

7:45 am pick-up from your hotel in Puno city and drive to port. You take the group boat to firstly go to the Uros reed floating islands. 30 min away from the port.

8.30 am arrival to uros and explanation of the guide about Uros population and history. The guide will perform the process of building of the islands. After 45 min you have free time to visit inside the local people's houses and even you are offered to buy some reed souvenirs and handicrafts.

These Islanders will invite you to ride the typical reed boat to go to the next “commercial” Island. Where you cane get stamped your passports with the map of the Lake.

10.30 am after this encounter the 3 hours boat ride journey over the lake begins. Along the way you'll see the typical landscape of the Lake and peninsulas.

1:30 pm when you arrive to Amantani Island, the families will be waiting for the group and take you to their houses. Your mom will provide meals, accommodation and clothes for the welcome party “Peña Show”.

4.00 pm after a well deserved lunch (Quinoa soup, cooked potatoes, fried cheese and Muña tea) your mom escorts you to the meeting point. Then it is optional to walk up to the Temple of Pachatata or Pachamama located over 4160 masl.

From this summit you'll be able to enjoy the sunset over the lake.

We highly recommend you to do Pachamama temple hiking due the place offers a cliff and great scenery of the landscape.

7.00 pm Dinner time! Some typical Peruvian dish is prepared for you (you'll probably be surprised with the abundant portion)

8.00 am Who doesn't love the typical Peruvian Andean music played with the traditional instruments?

The families organize this dancing and enjoyment celebration in the “Salon Comunal” for all visitors. You don't have to go alone, your mom is taking you to there.

Later back to family house and overnight.

Day 2: Amantani / Taquile Island / lunch / Puno

7:30 am After breakfast (coffee, marmelade, pancakes, Muña tea) we will leave Amantani Island and continue in direction to Taquile.

8:45 am we arrive in Taquile Island and start a soft hike up to the community. At some point during the visit we will enjoy a textile and cultural exhibition and the tour guide will offer an interpretation of the traditional clothing and textile designs from Taquile.

11:30 am We will have a delicious lunch in a local restaurant of Taquile Island. Right after lunch, we start a 45 minute hike down to the main dock. Lunch is not  included in the price.

12.45 am We embark on the boat back to Puno city.

3:15 pm We arrive in Puno dock and we will be transferred to your hotel.

 Day 3: Puno / Desaguadero / Tiwanaku / lunch / La Paz

7:30 am suggested time for departing towards Desaguadero borderline from Puno city.

Along the way you might want to stop for the last picture over Lake Titicaca at the lookout of Pomata, appreciate in the distance the Sun Island and the Snowy mountains in Bolivia.

10:00 am meet our Bolivian counterparts; our tour guide will help you cross the border of Peru and Bolivia. This process could take some 15 to 35 min. After this “held hand” crossing you start the drive to Tiwanaku archaeological site, 35 min away from Desaguadero.

On arrival have lunch at Pachamama restaurant or any other place.

All the time you are accompanied with your English speaking guide.

After lunch the guided tour of Tiwanaku site starts.

4:00 pm Bolivian hour, you all head to  La Paz, which is about 2h 30min approx.

Later, when approaching La Paz city you can stop and take a panoramic picture of the city surrounded by the snow mountains. Drop-off by your downtown hotel or if it is colated in southern La Paz then some 20min extra to get there.
