Early private transfer from your hotel to bus station and ride for about 3 hrs and 30 min to Copacabana. You’ll cross the Strait of Tiquina by motor boats and ferries, bring cash to pay your ticket (Bs.10).

The boat departs between 8 am and 9:00 am from the port, you have to take a bus from La Paz to Copacabana the previous day (local buses depart from La Paz bus station at any hour) these buses usually arrive after 3 hours and 30 min ride.

Recommended time for pick-up from your hotel in La Paz is between 8 am and 10 am. Abel or Juan Carlos is coming to your hotel for the transfer to Desaguadero.

After 2 hours and 45 min of driving you arrive to Desaguadero border and pass through Bolivian and Peruvian migration offices. This would take from 15 min to 45 min.

Our Bolivian driver helps you cross to the Peruvian side (with your luggage) and introduce you to your new driver (from Peru).

After getting your entry stamp to Peru and exchange of vehicles you’ll be heading strait to Puno city (2hrs 20min).

15. La Paz to Puno + Amantani Homestay Tour (3 days)

Day 1: La Paz, Bolivia to Puno, Peru

Abel is going to pick you up at your hotel in La Paz then head towards Desaguadero borderline (2h 45 min during transit traffic days). On the way you would stop for lunch at Tiwanaku and quick visit of its main attractions. Another 45 min drive fro Tiwanaku to to Desaguadero borderline and do from 20 to 45 min documentation at the border offices.

You’ll meet our Peruvian driver and then finally drive to Puno for 2hrs 20 min (photo stop at Pomata viewpoint is offered). On arrival to Puno drop-off at your selected hotel.

Day 2: Uros to Amantani Island

Your Lake Titicaca Tour starts at 7:45 am with a quick transfer to Puno port. We’re navigating to Uros and Amantani islands. Two hours guided visit to Uros floating islands then head to Amantani for 2h 45min, lunch on arrival, hiking to Pacha Tata Temple and overnight at local family houses. Accommodation and meals are provided by the Amantani local people. Warm welcoming and feel like at home.

Day 3: Amantani to Taquile Island

Early breakfast and lake water boat crossing to Taquile Island. Taquile Island is popular by its art textile art and authorities rule under the three golden Inca rules. 

Lunch and brief explanation about the history of the Island and the origin of its name.

Day 1: La Paz, Bolivia to Uros Floating Islands Puno, Peru 

Our team mate Abel is going to take you from your hotel in La Paz to Desaguadero borderline (2h 45 min).

On arrival meet our Peruvian driver and get transferred to Puno (2h 20min). You will get to Uros Kalapajra local pier. At this local pier you’ll meet your kayak guide waiting for your arrival with the fully equipped kayak ready to start the Lake Titicaca adventure towards Uros floating Islands.

Paddle through beautiful landscape surrounded by marshes of reeds and locals in their daily basis.

35 minutes estimated time of paddling to get to Uros Islands by kayak without hurries. Upon arrival meet your friendly welcoming Uros host. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Uros to Puno

This second day in the highest navigable Lake we will do local activities as cutting reeds and fishing. While a local Uros habitant rows his reed raft gently gliding across the Lake. Our Bolivian team mate Abel is going to take you from your hotel in La Paz to Desaguadero borderline (2h 45 min). As a private ride there is a change to stop Tiwanaku site on the way to Puno. Purchasing entry ticket at the site is easy and your tour would take one hour on your own way but hiring a local guide plus one hour. Your entry ticket includes visit to Puma Punku. For lunch Taypi Uta restaurant offers locally prepared lunch.

On arrival to Desaguadero border meet our Peruvian driver and get transferred to Puno (2h 20min).

Day 2: Puno Biking & Kayaking Day Tour

Early meeting at your hotel and short transfer to the starting line, here your mountain bikes will be awaiting for you. Set up and start pedaling through the dusty up and down road overlooking Lake Titicaca floating islands. 3 hours of full adventure and nature enjoyment at your own pace. This morning guided biking tour ends at middle day and quickly heading to a local Puno restaurant for lunch and enjoy a well-deserved grilled trout or chicken after a medium effort.

At 2:00 pm let’s get started with the kayak adventure on the way to Uros floating islands. We’ll drive from the restaurant to local Uros pier at Kalapajra, take our kayak and paddle to Uros, enjoy the beauty of this particular High Plateau landscape. You can share with your guide a tandem (just let your guide work for you).

Arrival to Uros and exploration, learn how the Islands are built and maintained from your English speaking kayak guide. Return through the same way to Puno.

On the way back we’ll stop at Uros Bolivia ethnic group’s islands, located in the Lake (optional).
