AREQUIPA HOTEL PICK-UP

Based on your request, you’ll be picked up at your selected Arequipa hotel by your driver and then get transferred to Puno on a 10 – 12 hour drive with optional photo or lunch stops along the way.
You just tell us when you’d like to be picked up at your address and our friendly driver will show up at your place on time. We’ll share his name the day before of the transfer.
SIGHTSEEING STOPS
The private transfer from Arequipa to La Paz en route offers unique opportunities to make stops alongside the main highway such as at Pampa Cañahuas, Lagunillas and Uros Floating Islands.
If you’d like to stop off along the route, just let us know at the moment of booking then we’ll advise your driver to stop at the requested places consequently your total travel time would be more than 6 hours.
Pampa Cañahuas, it’s primarily located in the Aguada Blanca National Reserve and Imata Stone Forest, and at the Chachani and Misti volcanoes.
Mirador de Volcanes, you have a privileged view of the volcanoes that border Arequipa. From this point you can see the Misti Volcano, Hualca Hualca volcano (6025 m.a.s.l.), the main Apu of the Cabana ethnic group since ancient times.
Lagunillas, it is a beautiful lagoon situated at an altitude of 4,100 meters above sea level. The road begins to twist and turn, and you have to slow down. The scenery includes golden hills dotted with boulders, clear blue skies, and the occasional lagoon.
You’d stop at the overlook for Lagunillas, where there are some Alpacas and Llamas grazing, in addition to several people selling handicrafts. You will have the option to buy snacks, food, drinks and eve use of washroom.
Uros Islands, the man-made floating islets are created by stacking layers upon layers of Totora roots and reeds. This water-resistant plant grows in the lake and is the lifeblood of the Uros community: it is used to make boats, houses, roofs, mattresses and more. The plant is also eaten (playfully called the “lake banana”) and applied as medicine, and its flowers are used to make tea.
At additional cost, we can organize a private guided tour from Puno to Lake Titicaca with English speaking tour guide, private motor boat, and entry tickets and even we could reserve lunch on one of the floating Islands.
PUNO TO DESAGUADERO BORDER
You continue your journey from Puno city to the closest Peru-Bolivia border. The estimated travel time is 2 hour 30 minutes.
On arrival at Desaguadero border, you will switch vehicles and you might walk for a few minutes until you reach the Peruvian immigration office accompanied by your Peruvian driver.
Your Peruvian driver will introduce you to your new Bolivian driver, who is waiting for you in front of the immigration office.
If you’re not going to come back to Peru then you can exchange your Peruvian currency into Bolivian pesos.
Your new Bolivian driver is going to assist you across the immigration offices.
The border crossing usually takes from 30 minutes up to 60 minutes if there isn’t crowd or if you do not need Tourist Visa to enter Bolivia.
If your nationality requires applying for the Tourist Visa it might take 2 up to 3 hours depending if you bring all documents and USD cash for the payment.
DESAGUADERO TO LA PAZ
Once you’ve got your entry stamp on your passport, your driver will walk you to the location of the new vehicle.
You’ll drive from Desaguadero to La Paz for about 2 hour 45 minute. You’ll go through the El Alto town, popular by its terrible traffic jam and crowded streets.
If your hotel is located in Zona Sur Calacoto (Mitru Express, Rosario Sur, Atix, etc) there is an extra drive time of 20 up to 30 minutes.
DROP-OFF
The drive from Arequipa to La Paz will be much more interesting and entertained with stops along the way. After battling a bit of rush hour traffic, the car trip concludes in La Paz city. Your driver will drop you off at your hotel in La Paz, Bolivia.
