What You’ll Do

Get an early pick-up at your hotel and land transfer to Chimu community on a 20-minute car ride.

Upon arrival meet a local who takes you on a wooden boat around the shoreline.

Your Tour Itinerary

8:00 AM Hotel to boat pier transfer

Your guide plus driver will pick you up at your hotel and drive to Isla Esteves, located 15 minutes away from Puno downtown.

Along the way your passionate guide will provide some clue information about the local tradition and history of pre-Incan cultures in the basin of Lake Titicaca.

On arrival at the local boat pier, meet a local man, onboard his small wooden motor boat and venture through the reeds observing the first birds on the lake shoreline.

Your boat driver will take you to Chimu community shoreline by a engine boat across the calm water, when reaching the location of the endemic Titicaca grebe (usually closed to visitors), he will gently row his wooden boat then you can enjoy watching them.

Lake Titicaca Grebe

Titicaca grebe

Lake Titicaca National Reserve has a suite of birds not found anywhere else in the world, and holds some of the most remarkable species in a land renowned for its amazing endemics.

This is a perfect place to watch for Titicaca grebe, an endemic bird to Peru and Bolivia High Plateau, and looking for them will make your Titicaca birding tour very especial.

After a unique and enjoyable experience in a quiet and peaceful landscape, our local expert will keep navigating his boat on the way back to the shore after you observed more than 10 species of birds.

Bring snacks and water to enjoy them while slowly go back looking for some missed birds.

After 2 hours watching birds, you’ll be picked up by your driver again and transferred to your hotel from the same launching place.
