At the scheduled time, you’ll be picked up at your hotel in Cusco and transferred to Puno port by your friendly driver on a 7-hour car ride by a private comfortable vehicle, with a series of self-guided sightseeing stop of 15 minutes at each place.

Andahuayillas, the San Pedro Apostol church known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Andes” was built by Jesuits in the sixteenth century over a pre-Columbian Huaca, or ceremonial space. It’s very popular because every inch of wall is covered with decoration. You’ll see large paintings framed in gold leaf lined the nave, while murals cover the remaining wall space.

La Raya at 4,335 m, it’s the highest point in your journey after the lunch. The place also marks the division between the departments of Puno and Cusco. The best spot to enjoy the majestic view of the Mountains (snowy peaks of Apu Chimboya) and take pictures. You’ll find a small market that is set up at the stop selling typical Peruvian wares such as sweaters, hats, scarves and decorative rugs.

Pucara, it will be your last stop before Puno, the town is famous for its talented ceramists who craft the “Toritos de Pucara” (“Little Bulls of Pucara”) which can often be found adorning rooftops in houses in Peru, placed to attract good fortune at home.

At the Pucara Stone Museum (Museo Litico de Pucara) there are some amazingly intact pieces of stonework and pottery that were from pre-Inca times. The source of the pieces is the archaeological complex Pucara found further up the road from the museum, overhanging the village.

Pucara will be the place where you can stop for sandwiches, soda, snacks, etc.

3:30 pm – Navigating on the highest navigable Lake

On arrival at Puno port, meet your guide and set off for a unique experience of the floating Islands on a 30-minute boat ride across the Lake.

You’ll get an authentic taste of life on the Lake Titicaca floating Islands, taking part of their daily activities of a friendly and hospitable local family reed homes and sharing their traditions.

Your boat captain will take you to a local reed Island where your guide provides clue insight about the unique way of life, and the natural source that provides home, transportation and sustenance for the residents.

The surface of the islands is uneven, thin, and some liken walking on it to walking on a waterbed.

Locals will invite you walk inside their reed house where they will show you their embroideries, tapestries and reed souvenirs. As a complementary activity, you’ll ride a traditional reed boat provided by the family.
