What You’ll Do
Your Sun Island Tour from La Paz to Puno begins with an early pickup at your hotel in La Paz and private transfer to Copacabana.
Onboard the boat and navigate to the Isla del Sol for the guided tour and lunch. By the late afternoon you’ll be travelling from Copacabana to Puno via Kasani border.

7:00 am (Bolivian time) – La Paz to Puno port private transfer

You’ll meet your guide and driver at your hotel in La Paz or at Todo Turismo bus station, if arriving from Uyuni town, and head to Copacabana town on a 3 hour 30 minute by a private transport.
You’ll drive through El Alto town, popular by its traffic jam, that’s why it’s strongly suggested to leave early to avoid the crowded streets.
After 2 hour 15 minute drive, you’ll arrive at Strait of Tiquina, a narrow section of Lake Titicaca, to cross by a ferry.
10:30 am (Bolivian time) – Sun Island Boat Tour from Copacabana
Upon arrival in Copacabana your guide will introduce you to your boatman. Amadeus is taking you across the highest navigable lake of the world along the way to Sun Island with magnificent views by a private motorized boat.
At Yumani port in Sun Island, you’ll walk up to the Tacana restaurant for a well-deserved lunch (prepared with local ingredients, crops, trout or chicken).
Following that, you’ll visit the Inca water spring, stone stairs and the Inca garden. You’ll walk towards the Pilcocaina Temple, the first Inca temple ever built, through the ancient trail with great views of snow peaks and the endless Lake.
After 1-hour walking through a dusty trail, you’ll reach the old remains of the first Inca rulers. According to legend, the Island of the Sun was known as Titiqaqa and was the birthplace of Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo, the children of the Sun God or Wiracocha.
While exploring the Pilcocaina Temple your guide will deliver all the information you need to know to understand the greatness of the origin of the Inca Empire.
2:30 pm – Isla del Sol to Copacabana
Following that you’ll walk down to the new local port and embark on your private boat and head back to Copacabana through the same way on a 60-minute boat ride.
On arrival at Copacabana port, you’ll take your private transport and head to Kasani border on a 15-minute ride.
3:45 pm (Bolivia time) – Kasani border to Puno car ride
At the Kasani borderline your Bolivian tour guide will assist you on crossing the border. The border crossing usually takes from 20 minutes up to 60 minutes. Your Bolivian tour guide will introduce you to your new Peruvian driver.
Your new friendly Peruvian driver will pick you up in front of the Desaguadero immigration office and head to Puno city on a 2-hour 30-minute drive by a private comfortable vehicle with an optional stop at Aramu Muru doorway along the way.
You’ll be dropped off at your hotel in Puno city at about 6:00 pm. Time can vary based on walking factor on Sun Island, border crossing, etc.
