What You’ll Do
Meet your guide at your hotel and then walk down to the port, from where you’ll onboard the private motor boat to head Isla del Sol.
Your hiking begins exploring the Chinkana temple and head to Yumani community through ancient trail. Have lunch and continue on to Pilcocaina temple before returning to Copacabana.

9:00 am – Copacabana Hotel to Isla del Sol

Our team-mate tour guide (David, Omar, Juan or Pablo) will meet you at your hotel in Copacabana town then after walk down to the lakeshore to onboard the motor boat.
The motorized boat will set off from Copacabana to the Chinkana site, located in the North side of Isla del Sol, along the way you’ll see and enjoy beautiful Lake Views.
The rocky island of Isla del Sol lies on the South end of the vast Lake Titicaca. It is the perfect stop when crossing the border between Bolivia and Peru.
According to Inca mythology the Lake and the Isla del Sol are considered the birthplace of the first Inca Emperor – Manco Capac and his wife Mama Ocllo – created by the Sun God (Inti God).
According to the Inti legend, Manco Capac and his siblings were sent to the Earth by the sun god and emerged from the cave of Isla del Sol carrying a golden staff. The journey took years to get to Cusco as well as building a temple for Inti in the city.
You’ll traverse the blue horizon and hit the largest Island on Lake Titicaca.
10:40 am – Chinkana to Yumani hiking
Upon arrival at the Chinkana site’s local pier, you’ll hike up the short steep path leading you to its location. You’ll see ancient (first Inca buildings) while enjoying the majestic views of the sandy beach meanwhile your guide takes his time to explain you about the great pre-Incan civilizations rulers of the Lake basin.
Following that, your local expert guide takes you through the ancient path and old remains to the Garden of the Inca, the Water Fountain, the Grand stone stairs and restaurant in Yumani community. The Island of the Sun, considered as the birthplace of the Inca Empire, arises in the blue horizon.
12:45 pm – Lunch with Lake overlooking
You’ll arrive at Tacana Restaurant, located on the lower part of the Island and locally owned, offers great views. Here, Vicky will wait for your arrival with a tasty Trout or Chicken lunch prepared with local products and ingredients. You’ll enjoy of the traditional Apthapi lunch.
1:45 pm – Hiking from Yumani to Pilcocaina
Your guide will lead you through the top rated attractions and places. You’ll hike from Yumani community towards the very Southern side of the Island.
You’ll firstly hike up the almost 100 stairs and learn from your guide about the legendary myth of the Inca fountain of the eternal youth, spring water.
Following that, you’ll walk through the trail, on the way enjoy the view of the peninsula and part of the Peruvian side. You’ll be informed about the local agricultural activities and pre-Incan terraces, traditions and festivities by your personal guide.
Then after, arrive at the Pilcocaina Temple, walk inside to explore the first Inca palace built for honoring their Sun God. The first Inca temple ever built before to worship their Inti Sun God. You’ll get deep explanation and clue facts about its importance during the Inca ruling and the Inca birthplace.
4:00 pm – Isla del Sol to Copacabana
Embark again on your private boat and head back to Copacabana. Your private boatman will take you back to Copacabana on a 60-minute boat ride.
