Amantani Island Homestay Tour starts with a short ride from your hotel to the port, where a motor boat waits for your party. It’s a regular slow motor boat that has three parts: the inside, outside back and outside upper deck; there is also a basic bathroom on board.

While other companies (group tour operators) will be visiting the touristy place of Uros floating Islands at its most crowded time, instead you are going to navigate directly to Amantani Island traversing the intense blue of Lake Titicaca on a 3-hour boat ride.

On arrival at its local port, walk up to the local school. This morning you’ll meet up with the children of the Island (from Monday to Friday, from March to December).

After this unique and memorable encounter with the children of the Island, you’ll go to the local family host house.

Be part of the preparation of the Pachamanca (food of the Mother Earth). Our family host before our arrival will get ready everything, crops and meat will be put inside this hot stone oven.

Enjoy the typical Pachamanca prepared by yourself and the local family; learn from your host how to make textiles and what their meaning is.

You’ll see and encounter an ancient indigenous community dating back before the Incas that has learnt how to conserve its original, genuine traditions and Andean political organization throughout the time.

By the late afternoon take your time for walking around or embark on a one hour hike to the lookout point and ceremonial centers of “Pachatata” or “Pachamama”, enjoy the mesmerizing sunset over the expansive Lake Titicaca, a sight that will etch itself in your memory.

Later, enjoy a tasty dinner and rest in the comfort of your local home after learning some traditional art textiles from the local host and guide.

After an early breakfast at Amantani house, you’ll traverse the endless blue horizon of Lake Titicaca, getting to Uros floating Islands in roughly 2 hour 30 minutes.

On arrival at the reed Island, the surface of the islands is uneven, thin, and some liken walking on it to walking on a waterbed, a friendly community family greets you with open arms.

Experience the local culture firsthand as you gently ride a traditional reed raft meanwhile your guide provides clue information about the unique way of life, and how the natural Lake source provides home, transportation and sustenance for the Uros residents.

The family invites you walk inside their reed house where you’ll have local delicacies based on Quinoa, veggies, grilled trout or chicken, fruit dessert and hot Coca tea.
