SIGHTSEEING STOPS
The private transfer from Arequipa to Cusco en route offers unique opportunities to make stops alongside the main highway such as at Q’eswachaka Rope Bridge, Raqchi Temple and Huaro (entry tickets can be purchased at each site).
If you’d like to stop off along the route (for some places might apply extra cost), just let us know at the moment of booking then we’ll advise your driver to stop at the requested places consequently your total travel time would be more than 9 hours.
Q’eswachaka Rope Bridge
is one of the last vestiges of the vast Inca Trail – an impressive system of roads that stretched from Colombia to Argentina. To cross the dangerous rivers and canyons, the Inca hand-wove rope bridges, most hove which have long-since rotted away.
Raqchi Temple,
it was part of the primary control point on a road system that expanded out from Cusco as the Inca Empire grew in the 15th century. Raqchi was home to a number of sacred sites, store houses, living quarters, and an artificial lake, most of which were enclosed by a 4-km-long perimeter wall. But the most prominent structure is the main temple, also known as the Temple of Wiracocha.
Huaro,
the San Juan Bautista church was built by the Jesuits in the 16th century. Its interior is richly decorated with nearly 1,000 square meters of murals covering the walls and ceiling. First painted by local artists at the end of the 17th century, the imagery blends indigenous and colonial beliefs, and classic Christian scenes like the damnation of the Rapture. Beneath the nave’s painted ceiling is an opulent gilded altar piece with niches for religious dolls, and an intricate silver front.
