Based on your request, you’ll be picked up at your selected Chivay hotel by your driver and then get transferred to Puno on a 6 hour drive with optional photo or lunch stops along the way.

SIGHTSEEING STOPS
The private car transfer from Chivay to Puno en route offers unique opportunities to make stops alongside the main highway such as at Pampa Cañahuas, Patapampa (Mirador de Volcanes) and Lagunillas.

Patapampa (Volcanoes lookout), the road goes up to 4910 meters high and, once up, you have a privileged view of the Volcanoes that border Arequipa. When you pass through the Patapampa pass you will notice that this place is covered with a thin layer of snow, also from this beautiful place you can see the most important volcanoes of Arequipa.
From this point you can see the Hualca Hualca volcano (6025 m.a.s.l.), the main Apu of the Cabana ethnic group since ancient times; the Sabancaya volcano (5976 m.a.s.l.) this is an active volcano since 1986.
Pampa Cañahuas, it’s primarily located in the Aguada Blanca National Reserve and Imata Stone Forest, and at the back of Chachani and Misti volcanoes. It’s a place where you can stop for snacks, food, drinks and toilet before continuing on to Puno.
Lagunillas, it is a beautiful lagoon situated at an altitude of 4,100 meters above sea level on the way from Chivay/Arequipa to Puno. At this section the road begins to twist and turn, and you have to slow down. The scenery includes golden hills dotted with boulders, clear blue skies, and the occasional lagoon.
You might see a smaller lagoon filled with flamingos and other birds. It’s kind of crazy to see flamingos at over 4000 meters above sea level.
You’d stop at the overlook for Lagunillas, where there are some Alpacas and Llamas grazing, in addition to several people selling handicrafts.
After that lagoon, you’ll keep driving towards Puno.
DROP-OFF
The drive from Chivay to Puno is much more interesting with lots of small villages and local life. After battling a bit of rush hour traffic, the car trip concludes in Puno about 6:00 pm. Your driver will drop you off at your hotel in Puno.
