What You’ll Do
You’ll be transferred from your hotel in Puno to Chivay on a 6 hours car ride with stops along the way. Arrive in Yanque and get dropped off at your Colca Lodge.
You’ll see the majestic flight of the Condors over the Canyon you’ll return to Chivay with optional stops at villages and lookoout along the way to Arequipa.
Your Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Puno to Colca Lodge
8:00 am – Puno to Yanque

Your prive driver will pick you up from your hotel in Puno city and head to Yanque on a 6 hours ride with sightseeing and photo stops along the way with gorgeous scenery of the Lake Titicaca and the high Andes landscape.
Along the paved road, you will see many small towns as well as the beautiful lagoon Lagunillas, where you can explore trout farms and observe Andean flamingos among many Andean birds. Following an ascending road, you will then reach the Patahuasi restaurant.
You have a short break and stretch our legs, use the bathroom if needed and drink a typical coca tea or coffee at the local restaurant. Afterward, we will continue ascending a small road until we reach the highest point of our trip, the lookout point of the Patapampa (4900 m.a.s.l.).
At the very top, you will get off of the vehicle for a few minutes and enjoy the stunning landscape with the great volcanoes including Mismi, Misti, Chachani, Sabancaya (active) and Ampato. Later on, you will drive downhill to the main town of the Colca Canyon: Chivay (3600 m/ 11.811 ft).
You will keep driving towards Yanque and get dropped off at your hotel Colca Lodge with priviliged views of the Colca Valley.
Afterwards, you have time to relax in the hot Springs. Here you can enjoy the warm natural waters (35°C/ 95ºF) in a nice outdoor surrounding of the huge mountains, the river, and even some local animals. After sunset, you return to the hotel and have dinner.

Day 2: Condor Cross to Arequipa
6:30 am – Condor Cross lookout
Your private driver will pick you up at your hotel in Yanque and then after head to Condor cross (Cruz del Condor) on a 60 minute car ride on the way to Colca Canyon.
On arrival, you’ll admire the impressive views of one of the deepest canyon in the world and see the majestic Andean Condor bird that may be spotted flying just over head (fingers crossed). Get up close and get amazing photos of these birds whose presence create a truly unique experience at the Canyon.
On the way back to Chivay (or when going to Condor Cross), you’ll stop and visit the villages of Pinchollo, Maca and Yanque, all small villages which have colonial churches, tombs, and pre-Inca terraces, and you’ll really gain glimpse of their way of life and see closely the impact of living in the second deepest Canyon in the world.
Some photo opportunities with Lamas, Alpacas and with local people typically dressed is offered during this visit.
11:30 am – Arrival in Chivay
You’ll have lunch in a restaurant in Chivay or nearby. Following the lunch you’ll be on your way to Arequipa with a series of photo stops along the way.
By the late afternoon, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel in Arequipa.
