LA PAZ PICK-UP

Based on your request, you’ll be picked up at your selected La Paz hotel or El Alto airport (if you’re flying from Uyuni) by your friendly driver and then get transferred to Kasani border on a 3-hour 45-minute drive with optional stops along the way. You’ll be driving through the El Alto town, popular by its terrible traffic jam and chaotic crowded streets.
Just tell us when you’d like to be picked up at your address and our friendly driver will show up at your place on time. Additionally we’ll share his name the day before of the transfer.
If your hotel is located in Zona Sur Calacoto (Mitru Express, Rosario Sur, Atix, etc) there is an extra drive time of 20 minutes up to 30 minutes to downtown.
LA PAZ TO COPACABANA
Your driver will take you from La Paz to Copacabana on a 3 hour 30 minute drive going through the Strait of Tiquina.
At the Strait of Tiquina, there is no bridge. You have to cross by a local engine ferry (bring Bs10 Bolivian pesos for your tickets).
From Strait of Tiquina, you’ll drive directly to Copacabana for about 1 hour.
COPACABANA TO KASANI
In Copacabana you could have lunch or shortly explore before heading towards Kasani border on a 15 minute drive.
KASANI BORDER
On arrival at Kasani border, your Bolivian driver is going to assist you across the immigration offices. You’ll driver will walk you towards the Peruvian immigration office which takes some 5 minutes. You will switch vehicles and your Bolivian driver is going to introduce you to your new Peruvian driver at the immigration office.
If you’re not going to come back to Bolivia then you can exchange your Bolivian currency into Peruvian soles at the exchange house located in front of the Peruvian immigration office.
The border crossing usually takes from 30 minutes up to 60 minutes if there isn’t crowd.
SIGHTSEEING STOPS
If you’d like to stop off along the route from Kasani border to Puno city then we recommend you to stop at: Pomata lookout, Aramu Muru Doorway (S/5 pp) and/or Chucuito Temple of fertility (S/7 pp),
Just let us know at the moment of booking then we’ll advise your driver to stop at the requested places.
DROP-OFF
Your driver will drop you off at your hotel in downtown Puno or at Kalapajra pier (if you’re staying the night at a Uros reed gloating lodge).
