9:00 am – Car transfer from Hotel to Port
Our friendly driver comes at your hotel in Puno city for you. A quick pick-up and transfer from your downtown hotel to Puno port is delivered.
9:15 am – Navigating to Uros Islands
A spacious and panoramic window motor boat leaves Puno port for the most fascinating indigenous groups in Peru, the floating Islands of Uros which is the highlight of any itinerary on your Lake Titicaca vacation trip.
It’s a 25 minute of navigation through the Lake Titicaca National Reserve observing the typical flora (Totora reeds) and fauna (Titicaca birds) on our way to the floating village of Uros while your English speaking tour guide provides insight about the Lake Titicaca facts and history.
9:45 am – Guided Tour of the Floating Islands
Estimated arrival time to one of the almost 100 floating islands, where your guide is going to perform how exactly the reed island is constructed, what they do eat, how they ended up living on the lake, etc.
The local family, after the brief explanation, invites you to visit inside their reed houses, where probably you’re going to be shown their traditional handicrafts, embroideries and little reed boat souvenirs, if you’d like to contribute this family we recommend you to bring local currency cash.
After you’ve known their home, you have free time to explore the island, buy souvenirs or simply gain incredible sights from the lookout.
10:45 am – Reed boat ride on the highest Navigable Lake
You’ll be invited to go to the next reed Island, you’d take the reed boat to reach the “commercial island” navigating for about 15 min or more. However when taking this short extra trip, keep in mind, you have to pay for it at the end of the ride (S/ 15 per person approx.). The money goes to the local family.
If you do not take the reed boat, your engine boat will take you there anyway. This is basically a commercial island where you can buy snacks, souvenirs, hot drinks, or even get the stamp of Lake Titicaca for your passport.
