Puno to La Paz Day Tour with guided boat to Moon Island Features

Schedule of Departures and Arrival Times
7:00 am Early pick-up in Puno (from your Hotel, Bus Station, Train Station or from Uros Titicaca Lodges Pier) and departure to Copacabana.
8:20 am After 1 hour driving we’ll explore Aramu Muru Doorway (only photo stop).
It is a stone carved portal near to Lake Titicaca and Juli village.
8:55 am Second and last stop, in the Peruvian side of the Lake, at Pomata’s viewpoint. From this lookout you’ll appreciate how huge is Lake Titicaca and ask your personal driver to impress you with an inspirational photography of you.
9.45 am Finally we’ll arrive to Kasani-borderline between Peru and Bolivia. Here, get passport stamped from Peru and Bolivia. You’ll switch of mobility. Our Bolivian Tour Guide and driver will take you to Copacabana and Moon Island by a different mobility.
12:00 pm (Bolivian time, 1 hour ahead) You’ll have lunch at Ali Restaurant Gourmet or another similar in Copacabana before heading to Moon Island.
1:00 pm Land transport from Copacabana to its peninsula, Sicuani pier.
1:30 pm A small motor boat takes you to the Island of the Moon,
1:45 pm Arrival and guided visit of the Temple of the Virgins of the Sun God. Enjoy the view over the lake of the snowy Mountains.
3:15 pm Departure from Island of the Moon by small boat to same launching place.
3:30 pm Overland transfer to La Paz via Copacabana and Strait of Tiquina escorted by your personal tour guide.
4.30 pm Everyone takes a small ferry to cross the Strait of Tiquina which has to be paid in person ($ 1 more or less, not included).
6:50 pm Arrival to La Paz and drop off at your hotel if your hotel is downtown but if your hotel is located in South La Paz, it would take 20 minutes more.
Moon Island Day Tour from Puno to La Paz Detailed Description
This could be a private and personal tour, or a shared quality small group service which means itineraries can be adjusted if it is required.
There are two ways to go from Puno, Peru to La Paz, Bolivia. One is visiting Sun Island or Moon Island located on the Lake but you can also visit Tiwanaku archaeological site on your way to La Paz.
Depart Puno early in the morning, enjoying spectacular scenery as you drive through a series of interesting villages on the lake southern shore and the Andean plains to Copacabana on the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca.
Then, arrive at the Doorway of Aramu Muru, a portal sculpted into the ancient stone landscapes by a mysterious lost humanity. While you get closer at the portal and feel the energy that emanates, do not miss the opportunity of taking photos.
And finally arrive at a lovely place to spend some minutes more for a picture over the world’s highest navigable lake backed by the snow covered mountains of Bolivia’s Cordillera Real range (if weather permitting).
Our Peruvian driver keeps going to Kasani borderline, where the Bolivian guide and driver are going to meet you and help you with your luggage.
Passports must be presented and stamped at the both Peruvian-Bolivian sides of the migration offices; here your guide leads you through the right way.
You’ll switch and take other mobility once you´ve made your border crossing. From here, just a 15-minutes driving to Copacabana is needed.
Upon arrival at the bay of Copacabana, visit a local tourist Restaurant, for lunch.
Following that, overland journey to Copacabana peninsula, you will continue for a 25 minutes driving through an amazing landscape on the shores of Lake Titicaca.
At the bay a local expert sailor will take you at the Temple of the Virgins’ of the Sun. Rich history about the princesses of the Inca trained by the Mamaqoma.
The natural beauty of this Island is fantastic and impressive; you simply have to visit them to appreciate it. As one ascends the summits, you gain breathtaking views of the Cordillera.
After 1h 20min come back by the same way to Copacabana, upon arrival visit the Main Plaza, local markets and the shrine and the Dark Indian Virgin of Copacabana.
Finally you’ll be heading to La Paz which takes 2h 30min approximately. People cross by small engine boat, which must be paid in-person (not included).
