You’re leaving La Paz for Moon Island, early in the morning, a guided visit of Copacabana (upon arrival) and then have lunch before heading towards the Island via Sicuani pier.
Navigate to Moon Island and visit the Temple of the Virgins. Later return by the same way and travel to Puno city via Kasani border.
Schedule of Departure and Arrival Times
8:00 am pick-up from La Paz hotel and drive to Tiquina then to Copacabana.
9:45 am cross by small local ferries the Strait of Tiquina (buy ticket in person, $2)
10:50 am Arrival to Copacabana town following that you’ll get a guided visit of the main places to visit such as Cathedral, local market, candle sanctuary.
12:00 pm Lunch at a local tourist restaurant.
1:00 am Drive to Sicuani to take the motor boat to navigate to Moon Island.
1:25 pm arrival to Sicuani community in the Peninsula of Copacabana and departure toward Moon Island.
2:00 pm Arrival to Isla de la Luna, little hike and guided visit of this sacred place where girls were trained by Mamaqoma.
3:15 pm take the boat again and return to Sicuani.
3:45 pm upon arrival to local Sicuani pier take the same vehicle and drive to Kasani border.
La Paz to Puno private drive with guided stop and lunch at the archaeological site of Tiwanaku and Desaguadero border cross.
4:30 pm Arrival to Kasani border and documentation at both Bolivia and Peru migration offices. Meet your Peruvian driver.
4:15 pm (Peruvian time) depart from Kasani to Puno. This ride will take 2 hours and 30 minutes. On the way two photo stops are offered at Pomata lookout and Aramu Muru Stone Doorway.
6:45 pm arrival to your hotel in Puno (Peruvian time).
